3 Common Dog Coaching Techniques

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Is there a reason many dog owners are not successful when training their dogs? Yes! Most people don’t start training sufficiently early, when a dog is a young dog and is more receptive to training. The longer the training is left, the harder it is to coach the dog.

There are 3 common dog training methods that a dog owner wishes to understand to make teaching obedience more effective.

1. Use positive re-strengthening to educate good behavior. This may tell the dog that it’s behaving properly, the way in which you want. Use treats like pieces of chicken to reward your dog when it has done a role in the right way.

2. Don’t confuse your dog. Be effective in the way you teach your dog by being consistent with your commands and actions. As an example if your dog toilets within the house, move on it instantly; punishing your dog 15 mins after the event will prove nothing. The dog has leant that going toilet inside is ok…

3. Showing your dog attention as fast as you get home. If your dog is hyper initially, leave him alone till he relaxes down. If he jumps on you, turn your back to him and in a loud voice so “NO!” Give your dog attention when he calms down.

I have revealed 3 of the common dog training methods you can use to effectively train your dog.

Most significantly make sure that you don’t send your dog mixed signals. It is common for owners to do that, and the dog doesn’t understand. Like giving them attention when they’re jumping all over you; This is the time you will need to be effective in your actions

Most people do not realize that there is more to train a dog than they first realize and it’s something that must be worked on.

2. Sounds simple however it is fantastic how well it works and how many forget or take this point for granted. Reward your dog for good behavior.

German Shepherd Puppy Training Techniques

Monday, March 7th, 2011

German shepherd dog training is enjoyable because German Shepherds are clever dogs that might be taught behaviors simply. They reply well to any sort of dog obedience training whether you use clicker training to teach commands, or other reward techniques that could be better to the time and effort you need to put in. So whether you would like your German shepherd dog training to be about agility, easy commands, or training him to protect your home, here are one or two tips that may help you make that happen simply.

Clicker Training

Clicker training is a technique of training a dog that encourages the dog to associate the sound of a clicker with his reward since it is faster than manufacturing a reward.

It is a great method for German shepherd dog training as the breed is so fast to pick up new behavior. The way that it works is that when you teach a new behavior or agility trick, you use a clicker as an audible approval sound that is followed right away by a reward of some kind (a treat or a favorite toy). The reasoning is that the clicker gives the instantaneous acceptance to bridge the time between the behavior and the production of the food or toy.

Simple Reward Training

If you don’t have a clicker for your German shepherd dog training or just believe the idea is mad, you can use a more traditional approach. Try giving your Shepherd a command and moving his body for him appropriately. Once he has found the positions or behavior, reward him with praise and a treat immediately. Don’t delay, because with smart breeds like German Shepherds, they may start to associate a second behavior with the reward instead of your intended new trick.

German shepherd dog training is not tough, but a little awareness of the easy way to train a dog is useful. Your Shepherd should be in a position to learn numerous commands in a matter of a few days if you use the methods above consistently and are persistent in your pursuit of a well trained and happy German shepherd.

Several Tips To Efficiently Train Your German Shepherd Pups!

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

Training German shepherd puppies is less complicated than training them when they are older. This is because the basic idea of training, which is to teach dog’s organization, is harder to enforce after your dog has transcended its learning years. Therefore, older dogs take longer in making associations between their actions and the lessons that you would like them to learn, and the training process takes twice more the effort.

But training your German shepherd puppies does not have to be a tough process if you start early on and you know what you have got to do! Below, we’ve prepared several significant tips that are a must if you are intending to do things better.

1) Positive Reinforcements Helps

The basic idea of training is to positively teach your dog that certain actions he performs would bring him rewards. It is like teaching them that when they roll over or bark on command, they might be getting a prize. However, when dogs are taught by punishment like hitting or screaming, they would retaliate and cower in fear, making the process annoying to owner and dog.

2) Consistency is the Key

Often, it’s easier to train when you are the only one holding your baby dog. But when you have a whole family playing with your German shepherd pups, the training experience won’t be easy. In cases like these, you need to remember that consistency is the key to training your pups. Always use the same commands, gestures, and training techniques be it you or your family member to avoid confusing your dog.

3) Talk to your dog

Learning to talk with your dog is an essential part of dog training. You should be able to identify your dog’s body movements to help you know how your dog feels. Is it scared? Does it feel threatened or hurt? These signs will help you understand your dog better and help you evaluate whether you are making a point and teaching him or scaring him away.

Pug Coaching – Breed Specific Systems For Quicker And Easier Coaching

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

The Pug is a toy dog breed with a wrinkly face and a medium or tiny body. It is frequently described as ‘much in small’, due to all that it conceals in his little size. The Pug has a humorless expression but is a frolicsome, charming and clever dog. Though slightly stubborn about certain things, they succeed in dog obedience skills. They’re sensitive to human voice, so you don’t really have to hurt them. They love human attention and feel concerned when ignored. You would love to have one of those alert dogs, always at your feet or in your lap or following you wherever you go.

When your baby dog first comes home, you need to start by getting him used to all of the family members. Though he is customarily full of confidence, it may take him a little while to feel absolutely at ease in his new environment.

Begin the Pug training process methodically; teach one word with one action at a time; make sure you use the same word each time; and the association becomes powerful in his head. After you have taught him the 5 commands of sit, stay, down, come and heal correctly, move on to the next step, that is, to get him on the leash. Start with just an easy buckle collar on him, and gradually introduce the leash. Make sure it is light in weight and soft on the skin.

Remember, Pug training starts with understanding one word at a time. Teach him to sit, stay, and come one at a time. If you give 2 3 commands in one go, he will be confused. As you pronounce the word match it with a corresponding gesture to drive the message home. As an example, when you want him to sit, say the word and put mild strain on his back to show him what you want him to do. You’ll need to coach your puppy to remain in a crate when needed. When you start crate training, put your puppy into his crate and remain inside his sight. Give him a toy or treat to grab his mind and to help him associate the crate with nice things.

It will take your Pug a few days to feel comfy in his new environment. Be attentive and affectionate, careful not to overpower him with too much too soon. Have fun with your puppy by engaging him in games with his toys. And you’ll be so happy with your clever companion!

Learn The Real Truth About The Teacup Pug

Friday, March 4th, 2011

The small or the teacup pug is a little known breed of pugs. Many people don’t believe that such a breed exists and that the teacup pug is simply a smaller version of an ordinary pug. If you go into any pug forum people will tell you that they have spotted teacup pugs and that they have a much different appearance than the ordinary pug. So is there truly a breed of pugs known as teacups?

The Facts

Essentially a teacup pug isn’t essentially a thoroughbred of pugs; instead they are in reality half breeds. It’s common to see a pug crossed with a Chihuahua and the appearance can be somewhat superb. Essentially you would mistake one of those half breeds a merely a smaller version of a pug. The sole semi noticeable difference being the length of the snout is a little bit longer in a teacup pug then in a standard thoroughbred.

So is it safe to breed a pug with another dog such as a Chihuahua? The answer is a little yes and a little no. Many of these teacup pugs need C sections. One thing that could be beneficial for this kind of pug is the undeniable fact that they have a marginally longer muzzle which may scale back the chance possible breathing complications later on down the line. This is a typical failing in thoroughbred pugs.

Though there could be some benefits of cross breeding pugs, there are sometimes more complications involved and it’s not endorsed that people should do so. There is a common term in dog society named ‘designer dogs’. These are dogs that are purposely cross bred to create new unique breeds that nobody else will have. This is one of the worst things that people could do. It’s not safe to experiment in cross breeding dogs unless of course you are a trained vet who knows what you do.

In Summation

Basically there is no actual thoroughbred of teacup pugs. We all know that there are several different types of cross breeds out there and you may be mistaken if you see a teacup pug because generally it’s probably merely a standard pug that’s a little smaller in comparison to common. One of the things you might do is the next time you come across a smaller compared to common pug, ask the owner if it is actually a teacup pug. If they say yes then ask them what it is a cross of? Most of the people will just tell you that it is purebred but as you now know, there is not any such thing as a thoroughbred teacup pug.

Pug Coaching – The Reason Why You Have To Begin Training Your Pug Right From Day One

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

You go to the pet store and you fall madly in love with that big wrinkly face and the very next thing you know, you are the proud owner of a new Pug puppy. Something that you have to know, especially in those early days, is that the moment you bring that puppy dog home, you are training them in the right way to act in the future. With pug training, it is critical to be trained from the very start of your days as a Pug owner.

When you look at how much a kid learns in the first few years of their life, it far outweighs the amount of things they learn in the latter years. A pug puppydog is the same way, the initial few months of their life are similar to the initial few years of a child’s life and anything they learn now is going to be inserted in their mind as something they are allowed to do.

If your Pug puppy jumps up on the coach, will you discipline him and let him know to get down or are you going to pet his lovable little head and tell him how charming he is. Now think about what occurs when he is a full grown dog and he does that, you are probably going to be upset and scream at him. Well don’t yell at the dog, go find a mirror and scream at yourself because you are the one that promoted that behavior when he was a puppy.

We frequently find humor in the things that both children and dogs do when they’re puppies and babies and then we get upset when they are doing similar things one or two years later. It’s not their fault, you permitted this behavior and now you’re going to have to fix it. Knowing when to correct behavior is an important part of pug training

When your Pug puppy grabs your shoes and starts chewing on them, ask one tiny question , am I going to find that funny in 7 years when he is still doing it? If you are like most people, the answer to that query is going to be a sound NO so address it now and you won’t have to worry about it in the future because the dog will know that it is not allowable.

It is a small tough to train your Pug puppy from the first day, but you have got to resist the pitfalls of falling for that charming face. They’re animals and they have to be trained. The will only do what you permit them to do or get away with so be sure you get the right behavior instilled from day one and you’ll have a great pet!
