So you can save your money and forget about buying one of those pricey home gyms you see on TV all the time. If you don’t mind changing, plates or having multiple sets lying around, then you can buy fixed weight dumbbells.

A good set of resistance bands, like the Bodylastics Terrell Owens bands, can provide anywhere from 5 to 249 pounds of resistance. P90X Workout Equipment – The Ideal Equipment for P90 X

Personally, I prefer resistance bands, not only because of the lower price, but because they are portable, adaptable and more versatile than the set of dumbbells. In the event that resistance bands are more up your alley… I would recommend either the Bodylastics Home Gym or The Golds Gym Resistance Bands. However, the Bodylastics does have more options than the Golds Gym Set.

Now, turning to the pull-up bar. You can find several good options here, even if you don’t want to spend much money. You can use the resistance bands to do pull downs, instead of doing chin-ups or pull ups. Alternatively, you can buy a $20 doorway chin up bar. As you can see, it’s very cost-effective. Moreover, it beats the $50 P90X chinups product they sell by a long road.

So, what’s the story with doing push-ups? The reality is that you can get away without using push-up stands or some kind of Push-up Pro type exercise device. However, these types of devices do provide you with some benefits. Predominantly, they allow you to go deeper in the push-up and help you avoid problems with your wrist. There is a cheap alternative and that is to do your push-ups between chairs. Just like Charles Atlas recommends in his dynamic tension course. Nevertheless, you can buy a set of these for fewer than 30 bucks.

That’s really all the equipment you’ll need for a P90X workout, though if you’re working on a hard surface, you may also want to add a floor mat to the list.
